Was/were + presente participio.

Acción interrumpida en el pasado:

was watching TV when she called.

Tiempo especifico como una interrupción:

Last night at 6 PM, I was eating dinner.

Acciones paralelas
was studying while he was making dinner.

Atmosférico / ambiente:

The sun was shining.

Repetición e irritación con “always” (siempre).

She was always coming to class late.
