Verbos Modales / Modal Verbs

Estos son los verbos modales que ayudan a conjugar diferentes tiempos, y crean el equivalente de los tiempos más complejos del español. These are the modal verbs that help conjugate different tenses and create the equivalent of the more complex tenses of Spanish.

  • can / could           puedo / podría
  • may / might       ¿puedo? / ¿pudiera?
  • shall / should     debo de / debería
  • will / would        voy a / hubiera
  • must                      tengo que
  • ought to               debiera de
  • dare                       atreverse / atrevimiento
  • need                       necesito
  • had better            mejor debería de
  • used to                  yo solía

Algunos ejemplos  / Some examples:

I can buy us lunch / I could buy us lunch, I guess

May I buy you lunch? / I might buy you lunch if you’re nice

I shall buy us lunch / I should buy us lunch

I will buy us lunch / I would have bought us lunch but the cat ate my homework

I must buy us lunch

I ought to buy us lunch

Dare I buy us lunch? The line looks a little wild

I need to buy us lunch now!

I had better buy our lunch now

I used to buy us lunch
